Another Downfall
I’ve been closely observing this for quite some time. TCS’s layoff announcement is a suicidal move — both from an employee’s perspective and from the company’s perspective.
Let’s say:
-
You are talented and want to look for another opportunity outside. Even then, the new company will see you as a “laid-off” TCS employee and will negotiate harder with you.
-
From TCS’s perspective, new clients will put more pressure on them and negotiate harder, considering TCS to be in a needy position.
I’m not sure what the vision is, but this lady COO has put TCS’s future in big trouble. No good talent will want to join TCS anymore.
Generally, why do people join TCS? What does TCS offer?
Money: Ideally, no.
Bonus: Negligible.
Increment: Negligible.
Job Security: This has also vanished — so no job security anymore.
With that gone, no experienced lateral hires will join. They will only have to rely on freshers. If they really had to do layoffs, they should have done it quietly through backdoor measures with stricter policies — not through a public announcement.

Mass number of engineers and unemployment.
People wont reject TCS, its a need of hour to get some job be in any place.
Freshers can do similar work which 10 years experience person does, with the help of AI. e.g complext plsql procedure, AI will give you summary withing seconds and upgrade it as well as per need, so why experienced person is needed?

and still we are dying for AI.
