What is the ROI for the firm? And can start your own fund if returns are lucrative?

SnoozyPanda
SnoozyPanda

10-20% pa Seems low, but these are very low risk returns on very high (9-10 digit USD) capital and uncorrelated to the market. Only a handful of firms can do this consistently.

Uncorrelated? Are these not equity investments?

If AI can find insights from data, learn feature engineering, and generate good models, it will be able to do 50% of my job.

How's the interview process?

I know it's hard lol. The question was more towards the actual process; interview rounds, type of rounds, etc. And how do these things change at different levels?

I previously interviewed at Jane Street, 2 sigma and citadel and was surprised at how different the processes were.

Last thing, I’m fascinated by AT, so forgive me for asking lot of questions.

Do you also get to invest your own savings in your funds? Like I heard if you work at medallion then you do.

SnoozyPanda

No issues :)

Not yet, although firms do have this provision for senior people.

I don't need to. My team is majorly in one city and we only focus on trading. Ops etc are handled from separate office.

Extremely imo. Although I never got a chance to apply there. They started coming to campus 1 year after my batch.

What branch are you from? Do you have a fab jee rank? Do HFTs or hedge funds look at EE/Physics degrees from IIT seriously for a quant role?

SnoozyPanda
SnoozyPanda

Can't say, yes, yes

ZestyRaccoon

How about something like engineering physics from a top IIT? Is a CS/EE-level jee rank make or break or can it be compensated by stuff like cgpa, projects, cp, etc.?
