Am I not eligible for a promotion?
I have been working in a BPS project for the last 5 years. Started with chat, then moved to email, then worked on escalated requests, then worked as an SME, and currently doing root cause analysis for onshore calling team(Pilot). My bandings have been B(2021), A(2022), A(2023), B(2024). From my project, I know at least 2 people who have received promotions before whom I should be getting it based on performance and tenure within the project. What steps should I take? Is raising a grievance worth it and do I raise it now as the next appraisal will be closing in the next 3 months? Finally, is it worth waiting for?
Honest opinions will be appreciated, if anyone who has faced such issue previously, please let me know how you’ve handled it because this is really fucking irritating and I’m frustrated is an understatement.

Grievance thing will not help you in Promotion or salary increment. Create your dependency. Work on yourself do not divert your attention to gossip or other project politics. Focused on your improvement and how to add values in your daily project activity.Start client interaction. Let them know that your inputs matters to a client, you are valuable resource for project and you are critical resource for client. Then ask for Good band , Promotion or salary revision.

Honestly, I’m leading the RCA part. My manager doesn’t even get involved in that. Started with that project couple of years back and till date have received only 1 escalation that too in Jan 2023. Since then onshore team have been very happy with the quality of work. About gossiping, I’m not someone who loves to gossip, so that is not something I do at least knowingly. Still, I’ll try and make sure I don’t get involved in any gossips. Thanks for your inputs! Appreciate it 🍻.

Reach out to +2 level of your current manager. Talk with them, what is that factor for which you are not getting promoted!!?? Don't stop only at your manager. Morale of the topic: kids with more tantrums gets more attention.

If you are if you are referring to grade change(c1,c2,…) it’s entirely up to your manager and feedback from team lead. I see you have received good banding in last 4 cycles. Considering your grade is still the same and did not change from 2021 you should be eligible for promotions.
Your supervisor has to initiate your promotion in Speed based on discussion with your manager and your manager need to push it via email and also in speed for prioritising your promotion.
I would advice to initiate a continuous feedback meeting with your manager and get feedback before your next cycle . Set your expectations clear both to your supervisor and your manager what you are looking for and ask feedback what are the areas that you need to cope up with.
So that while next appraisal they can’t say something that you haven’t already discussed . Come back to Grade change ask manager that since you have spent 4+ years in same grade you should be eligible for grade promotion.
For grades above C3B the experience in company might be a bit different but below that should be okay to process.

Thanks for your help!

Answer to your question is another question - "Why will they give you a promotion?" Search within yourself for a truly convincing answer and when you find it that will be a real promotion. Remember, don't accept your answers too easily. For that kind of growth, yes, it's worth the wait.
When your manager or others will decide to give you a promotion - it's not. No one becomes entitled to a promotion in TCS even if they become eligible.
