Am I a bad person?

TLDR: Found out my date’s family is shady

Hello all. I went out on a date with a girl recently. We liked first few interactions and quickly became deeply attracted to each other. After three or four dates I got to know that her family is from a questionable background. By which I mean their family has a history of people being in criminal or shady businesses.

Some parts of their family deals in construction work, while some parts deals in cement trade. There’s a lot of bribes and dirty business involved in this work. I am now thinking of not taking things ahead with this person. Even though I like her. And she has nothing to do with the family work. But bribery and goons is not something I am okay with

Is this the ethical delimna that's troubling you or the fear or consequences you'd have to face if things get sour in future?

It’s the ethical dilemma

Been there. Done that. Run don't walk.

These land/cement/soil mafia folks are dirtier than you can imagine. You don't want to be married in a family like that. You also don't want to be the guy their dear daughter writes a suicide note for. End things amicably. Or go ghost.

Choose self preservation.

No. Bribery could be okay to some extent, because it is part and partial of anybody in business. But goons in family would be a different matter altogether, you can take it guaranteed that some shade of that aspect may be in the girl too.
