Do any of you guys get pollen allergies where your eyes are constantly itching and you're sneezing when you wake up? Did you do anything to fix it? What's the solution?

Speak to a Doctor. In Bangalore parthenium rules.

Is it possible to get rid of all parthenium in the city? Is parthenium useful to the ecological systems?

SwirlyTaco

Not possible to get rid of it. You can desensitise yourself to the allergen with the right medical practitioner.

Not sure how great it is to take these long term. I feel drowsy and won't be able to work.

I have severe pollen allergy leading to sinus pain, blocked head and nose 24 hours. went to the best of best ENT docs in Bangalore and was told after multiple tests and scan they I’m part of 3% people that won’t be able to stay in city and I would have to either change the city or move towards outskirts towards airport if I wanted to get some relief as heavy steroids use is not recommended for long term

What did you do after they told you that?

I get very severe pollen allergies around October to December every year. I usually go to the doctor and now use the same prescription for a five day course and usually get better. Don’t worry, you can ask for antihistamines that doesn’t make you drowsy.

Otherwise,

Wear a mask Dry clothes indoors if possible
Shower right after you get home Keep windows shut at home Carry Nasivion or Otrivin for congested nose

Try Jal Neti. Doing it first thing in the morning can reduce congestion and help with a lot of allergy.

I have being doing it in NCR and find a lot of comfort with my allergies.

What's jal neti?

It's ayuvedic technique for nasal rinse. Very easy to do and very effective.

You mix salt in lukewarm water and rinse your nose with that water. There is Jal Neti pot that you can get on AZ for less than 250 rupees.

Oh this one I have been struggling since childhood. Earlier it was just runny nose and constant sneezing for almost 20 yrs (started around 10 yrs of age). I met an ENT when this was coming back every 2 months - was recommended vaccination and with that it went off completely for almost 2.5 odd years. Returned again, but this time no runny nose or sneezing (that became smaller problem). Bigger problem was itchy eyes constantly for hours. During my medication earlier for runny nose and sneezing Duonase nasal spray use to help a lot. I tried the same for itchy eyes and it worked the same for me - immediately relief within 10-15 minutes. I don’t recommend any of the above medication unless you have consulted your own doctor and taken it in his/her guidance.
Sharing only because it helped me
