I think this will come to bite back tech firms in a few years. It will be too late to realize that software engineers are still needed in the long term for the AI to work as expected. I believe there will be a boom again in a few years once the AI gains have plateaued.

How long do you think it will take?

Honestly speaking MBAs are the ones who should be kicked out, they will completely destroy half of these tech giants and run them to the ground. Dropping entry level hiring will cause a shortage of engineers in the future when these folks realize you can't depend completely on the work of a machine. Classic case of "Fuck around and find out".

Certainly yes. Total greed to keep the top level pay cheques fat they are in exercising such stupidity. Is it not a full cycle for companies to get revenue from users?. Who will pay them money if people don't have jobs ?

Ai will do 90% routine work now. we need to depend on skill based works in future

QuirkyPenguin

this is such a cliche, superficial and generic statement getting thrown around so often these days. what 'skill' are you suggesting and why can't AI do that better? Before AI, people used to think that humans are better with creative skills like music, painting, literature etc but in the last year or so, we see AI out competing humans in these spaces as well.

No market recovery from what I'm seeing. Infact, more layoffs are yet to come and the MS one is a start with more from Amazon, Google etc.. New grads aren't being hired due to business uncertainty, which is why JD and requirements are outlandish in many cases. In some cases, their work has been automated so doesn't make sense unless one can show they have unique skills to stand out in the application process. Business isn't going to hire when the outlook for 2025 2H is weak.

I do not trust these AI big house CEOs tbh. Ultimately I feel like they have a product to sell, so they need to create hype and hence these statements.

Same transformation we had seen when Agile, Cloud, BigData and DevOps came. People not having the latest trend knowledge will be wiped out. Better to start using Gen AI, Coding Agent, n8n at least for the hobby projects, and grab the first opportunity to use it in professional space.

The Uprising : AI

Do you think AI is coming for our jobs? What’s your plan to deal with it?

For me, it’s go-time—I’m hustling everywhere and making my mark before the machines take over. (Oopskilling 😞)

Trust me, it’s already happening. Jobs are shrin...
