I had seen generative AI based optimiser where based on load conditions structure will be optimised.
No idea of mechanical engineering but as far I have seen my mechanical engineer friend's CV, his knowledge of computers goes as far as microsoft excel only. AI is a software concept even in the world of robotics and hardware. If you deal with software at any level, maybe you can utilize the benefits of AI. But it would be very limited to applications of AI through the software interface. If you work on any CAD software, generating models is quite helpful. If you are in the automotive industry, maybe autonomous driving can be a point of interest. But still, it is more about software implementations rather than mechanical.
As for companies, all automotive companies are/will use AI at some point. Ather is using AI to fine tune the driving experience at present.
