After Oracle; Amazon is next!

Layoffs are lining up at Amazon. L8s are already making the lists, with targets tied to a 10% OPEX reduction. Timeline: late Oct or early Nov. Some orgs could see even harsher numbers I’ve heard PXT L8s told to cut up to 30% headcount. Others are spared for now. But the direction is clear. This isn’t rumor mill anymore. Amazon is next.

As an amazonian for last 5 years, we have become resilient to firing. Every day amazon fires someone. Every month they down size a team. So these new "breaking" news won't break the already broken poor souls @ amazon.

We have been forced to show up 5 days a week to office. Our attendance is seriously monitored. Our performance metrics have drastically changed. Ai has already eaten up hella lot of jobs here. No backfills in my team for more than 3 years. We were 17 member team now with AI we are just 6. No international transfers from Covid. Far-fetched promo cycles
No hikes for L6+ in 2024 cycle despite their rating. No hikes for anyone less than top tier rating in 2025 cycle.

Amazon has been a hell for more than 3 years now. Some of us just learnt to oar through the hellfire.

What's new. They've been doing this since 2023.

Yes, what I have got to know is that 90% of team hiring has been frozen in Amazon
