After 3 Months of Honest Work as a Frontend Intern, I Got Kicked Out for “Not Knowing Backend” — No Warning, No Respect. I Stood My Ground.
Hey Grapevine,
I'm a Frontend Developer who just finished a 3-month internship at a startup — and I thought I was finally getting my break.
A few days ago, they offered me a 3.2 LPA full-time role. I was happy. It felt like all the hard work I did on their UI, dashboards, and responsive components paid off.
But today — out of nowhere — the CEO and CGO called me and flipped everything.
They said:
"You only worked on frontend... what about backend? We expected full-stack now."
Wait, what? I was hired only for frontend. That was the clearly defined role from Day 1.
Then they said:
“Do 2 more months of internship, learn backend, and maybe we’ll think about hiring you.”
I calmly asked, “What if after 2 more months you still don’t hire me?”
And boom — the CEO got angry, looked at the CGO, and just said:
“Exit him. We don’t need him.”
No warning. No respect. Just out. After 3 months of giving my 100%, I was shown the door — for standing up for myself. And for not having a skill that was never part of the deal.

name and shame the company

Stick with the frontend and master in it.

I am already learning Backend too, i implemented login Auth using Auth.js, Nextjs, middleware, MongoDB.
Even after saying this : CEO said : You're learning but not the expert in Backend.

If he was angry just cuz you asked, im pretty sure he was gonna kick you at that point
