Trending @Cognizant; Advice on how to change the project and domain

Community, I want your advice here.

How can I move from an L2 support role (AVM/ADM) to a development project internally? And what should I do if I get pushed into support again?

Hi community, I am working in Cognizant as a fresher (PAT). I got trained in Java Spring Boot for 3 months, and I was deployed as an L2 Support Engineer in a project in November.

I am in ADM (Application Development and Maintenance) and the AVM vertical. It’s a business/service unit (vertical) focused on maintaining existing applications (support projects).

I don’t want to be in support, especially L2 support. I don’t see any coding or anything technical in my job.

My project is ending in June (confirmed). So my manager has been given the task to allocate me to a new project.

I have asked him to give me a development-type project. For some reason, I believe I won’t get a development project because he is also in the ADM AVM vertical. So he may not let resources move out of the department.

Pure development is in another department called Digital Engineering.

I know about talent Marketplace its only useful if i don't tagged to another project immediately after my project ends I am sure they will not put me in bench (Not 100% but there policy is like don't put genc(fresher) in bench )

I am doing cloud certifications like AZ-104 and working on Spring Boot projects. I am also planning to do Oracle SQL and Java certifications. My thought is that this will give some credibility to my resume, as I am coming from a support project.

Switching companies is not an option because I have 8 months of support experience. In the current job market, there is no way any company will shortlist my resume for a development role, even if I tweak my resume.

Community, please help—what all things can I do?

If I get allocated to another support project, I am pretty sure quitting the company will be easier than getting released from the project.

I am at the beginning of my career. If I don’t switch to development or something serious now, it will become tougher as time goes on.

Please advise. Share your experience—anything I can do to take my career back to the development path inside a service-based company.
