Advice on Credit risk careers

Hi Everyone,

I need suggestion for the career change I am planning.

Currently I am working with Python ans R where I implement different scorecards in a tool which is used by multiple banks and other agencies for internal rating purpose. And most of them are application scorecards. Currently I do have a technical knowledge of the things but lacks functional knowledge.

I am planning to move to Credit Risk model development or model validation. Can any one please the skills required for such careers.

My Background: Engineering in Electrical with 4 years of experience out of which 2 years in financial domian.

Oh okay, on 30th April I bought the course from Peak2Tails and started persuing it.
And on AI side, I do have skills in basic AI (Clustering, Segmentation, Classification, Association rules) so I can take some course to be relevend in AI.

From what i know, there aren't many model dev roles in India but surely model val roles are there. You have the coding skills and that us a plus. For finance you can either pursue FRM or CQF.

There is another course by peak2tails for credit risk modelling. You can check that out as well. I have seen the youtube videos of karan agrawal from peak2tails and probably the best teacher i have ever came across.

I am not in model val right now. But if i had to switch to model val, i will go through the CQF or peak2tails course.

Although my senior said that AI will replace many model val roles in future since it is mostly backtesting of model in different scenarios and documenting observations. So not sure if model val is going to be very relevant in future.

Primarily I am targeting Model Val role to step in credit risk career. After which I can plan FRM and then expore some other roles in Credit Risk.

Thanks for advice.
