Advice needed
Hi everyone, I am 2023 grad. I have two offers in my hand rn. I am confused as to which offer should I choose.
Offer 1: Salary: 18 lpa base + 2 lpa perf bonus Company (Remote): Its a startup which has less than 10 people. It operates in Oil and Gas industry. They hired 2 freshers including me for their tech side. We’ll have to build everything from scratch. Basically building an app for automating some processes, basic tools using python, web dev, integrating ai models etc. There will be no senior to guide us. This is based out of US. It is work from home.
Offer 2: Salary: 10 lpa base + 1 lpa perf bonus Company (Bangalore): Its a fintech startup. Their tech stack is good. It is a proper tech company so I can get guidance unlike offer 1. It is work from office.
Pls guide me as to what will be better for me in the initial phase of my career. I want genuine advice. Thank you.

Have you done a proper background check for offer 1? I'm curious why a remote startup based out of the US is hiring freshers for creating a tech team. Pay is too low. It feels like they want some cheap labor, so they're hiring from India. If I was at your place I would've blindly gone for offer 1 but after working with early stage startups like this, it feels pretty sketchy.

To be clear, pay is too low for a remote startup based out of US, not 'too low' in general

Yeah I was interviewed by the ceo himself. The other hired guy is already working there. I have talked to him. I don't think it is sketchy. The company doesn't operate in pure tech sector. It operates in oil and gas industry. So funding, etc is not available publicly.

I'd be tempted to go with Offer 1 since I have a clean slate there. And I could make a solid mark for myself with my work. The work seems to be exciting as well.
In that way, if I succeed (given I was correct in my work) then this would look great in my CV.

Isn't it a bit risky? I won't have any guidance. There is no codebase. I'll have to write everything from scratch.

Darr ke aage jeet hai.
I assumed that since you have 18LPA in hand. You must know what you are doing.
My only concern with going with offer 2 is that, you'll be just an number in company's balance sheet. You 'might' not be recognised and your efforts 'may' go unnoticed.
And I'd suggest taking a peace of paper, write down pros and cons of each offer. Evaluate empirically and never think about it again.
Asking for others here will most likely fry your brain cause now you'll have to argue with your inner voice as well as others.

As someone who has taken risks on US based companies before, I'd go for 1, they wouldn't mind increasing your pay once you outperform their expectations.
Fresher should always prefer work from office. Imho.
There are a lot of moving wheels in corporate life.
Office politics, mentoring, experiencing the culture to name a few.
Forget about pay. Focus on growth.
Pay will follow by itself.

Bro take 1.
Mint money.
Join them and later other companies in US.
Learning part- everything is available on the internet. People from office are writing on Twitter, blogs, making vlogs. You can also attend networking events.
After recession your 20 also has changes to become 40. Plus other remote companies would trust you more to offer 80 once you have a remote experience at an early age startup.
You have a golden chance don't let it go.

Think of a $170 offer down the line. You can make your way to work in the states in person. They won't even care about your masters or college tier.
It all starts here

Go with the one whose logo is popular.
After few years logo’s on your resume/linkedin matters more than your initial salary.
Brand names in your history stays imprint permanently, will open doors for you in future.
Salary hike is not difficult with internal hikes or company switching.
Example: Flipkart (2016) >> Microsoft India (2016)
In 2016 if you were in flipkart you’d get mad reputation, clout, network, easier fundraise.
Not to discount the learnings of many years compressed into few months.
