Trending @Accenture; Accenture Layoffs
I understand that we are in currently tough situation but is layoffs a only solution can’t the pay be reduced to 50% until be are deployed to project, how can someone survive in this situation if they are not ready for it. I mean if someone has given most productive years of their life to an organisation can’t they be thrown out in one day if there are no projects.
We need to raise voice regarding these layoffs seems they are happening in huge numbers. This organisation will collapse in next 3-4 yrs .

As a billable resource we had given acn lakhs and even crores can’t they keep employee on half salary for 6 months until they find some opportunities

That’s true. But that’s not how the management thinks. They have to consider the larger forum which would be thousands of employees. Not many would agree to work with 50% pay. But they should give the employees a choice. Labour laws don’t really support IT guys.

Doing so impacts growth of other billable resources, so no, what’s happening is right, given the market situation.

That is how businesses work. They only care about profit. We are only employees and they don’t have any concern for us. We can be replaced within a day. And I think if we were a business owner then we too would think about the profit more than anything else. So we should stop expecting anything and just accept the reality. This way it will not be mentally stressful.

I will explain what the problem is
-
If any company (not Accenture alone) doesnt give a salary hike or reduces salary then people compain about not getting hikes and say they will leave the shitty company etc etc.
-
As soon as the company starts firing people folks start wishing for no hike or salary reduction etc
The thing is we need to accept jobs are not stable as they use to be and we cant just sit on the same job for years without upskilling. I look at people on bench rejecting offers coz of stupid reason like shift concerns or office visit concerns or location concerns, not spending time on upksilling, staying on bench for 6-7 months and no attempt to either find another job or a project and then they act surprised when the job is no more. Bench is what hurts the organisation as they are non billable roles.
I dont want to sound rude or demeaning but this is the truth

The point of up skilling is correct. But if you are on project nobody talks about up skilling because Accenture is getting margins and we also don’t have time due to hell lot of deliverables. The real problem comes when organisation does not have projects for you and then all drama starts. WFO, up skilling , loda lehsn. They will not accept that Accenture is not able to get deals otherwise their shareholders and investors will fcuk them. Hence the easiest part is kick the resources out. We can manipulate earnings by acquiring some companies.

How to upskill effectively and be safe when we don't have project exp in new field?

Doing so impacts growth of other billable resources, so no, what's happening is right, given the market situation.

Also I don't see why people need such half measures rather than simply moving on ahead somewhere else, even 3 months pay is being given without a notice period, what else can you expect more?

If someone is M level and gets fired 90% of opportunities are already closed

Imagine you're talking to your parents and they are saying that they can get a cool for less salary but with same output and they're asking for your opinion. I assume everyone would suggest to go with the cheaper cool and that's because we don't have any emotional connect with the current cook and we want to maximize benefits. It's similar for upper management, their task is to maximize profits and they don't have any emotional connect with every employee, they are doing what's best for them and the company. Not the best way but it's business in the end.

Replace cool with cook lol

Now you will understand, why people change jobs for money. There is no reward for loyalty in corporates. Better work for money, and try to get the best value for your talent, after 40s anyway you will be useless in this corporate world.
Brother, I am already 38, you mean I will become useless in next 2 years ?

Hi Everyone we should have positive thinking,Just keep in mind we all are working for the money, Company hired us for work and get paid which we discussed and agreed.
Once we hve chance to upskill ourself without paying anything take advantage of this.
We always cry , I have laid 3 times and got the job immediately within 20 days.
And finally we need to upskill as per the market requirements and trends.
We should have ask ourselves what we ahve achieved and wat is our aim to reach the target we set.
Lastly don't depend on any company they can keep you life long..just we should make our ways for the opportunities ariut us.

No giant organisation will collapse. There are N number of replacement are available if they want to hire. Every employee is just a number to them and just a mere resource who is doing there work....why do they even bother for us in cade of anything.

All service based companies will be reduced to 1/4th both in terms of headcount and revenue in coming 5yrs and it’s a reality. Save my comment somewhere

Its all business.. keep yourself on their shoes. You will understand. Second, people also need to understand in terms of grooming themselves for particular skill sets. I am taking interviews from bench and seriously they are completely blank. Sorry to say but this is also a bitter truth. In india specially.. we have huge head count but skilled are very less.

They can hire new folks for 50% pay and more energy, profitable for them. Its pure capatialistic approach.
