A question about career gap

I'm curious to know despite the unprecedented amount of layoffs going on, what the expectation around gaps are?

A lot of people on an average are taking like 5 months or so to land roles or do companies expect us to take a massive paycut and immediately join another company to be able to maintain a perfect resume?
