A junior in my company asked me (referring to seniors) what's the issue in telling exact salary when juniors ask?
They asked me what is my salary while we were talking about things. Given my experience and all, I asked to take an educated guess and finally told them a range. They then asked me what's the issue in telling the exact number. I honestly couldn't think of anything (apart from the technicalities), I was just following the process my seniors had set. But, would you share the exact salary when a junior asks? Why and why not.

Tell them the fuck around find out escalation ladder is real .things get bad when ppl discuss salaries

Why is that?

People fight. Next companies actually get a excuse to pay lower if salaries are declared by law.

It's easier to share numbers are junior grades. Everyone is within a 20% spread at worst. Usually the spread is less.
After you cross over to being a second line manager, its near impossible. The ranges are wide depending on what teams you run and it's just awkward to discuss this.

In my company came accross a nit passout , his package was more than 3 yr work ex employees .

I typically see if ambition box or Glassdoor numbers are in ballpark, and suggest them to check there

Where's the option "Depends on the mood?"
