A harmless question out of curiosity to all techies

Dveops and cloud engineers from the same company and same experience earn less than SDEs ?? And if one person works as a cloud engineer for a few years,can they move to sde roles ?

SDEs are jack of all trades, so yes, usually they will earn more than DevOps guys. But some top DevOps/SRE guys may beat SDEs too. Not sure about Cloud Engineers, what do they do? Do you mean DevOps for Cloud specific work? If yes, in general, it goes the other way round, SDEs move to DevOps role in later parts of career, not the other way round. For a DevOps guy to move to SDE role, it will be pretty steep learning to do, whereas a SDE can smoothly move to DevOps, as if retiring into cozy life…
