TCS Reality: Company Jumping Roadmap 90 Days NP Edition

Hey Folks part of TCS Reality series. Seeing frequent posts and people reaching out in DMs.

90 days NP is a pain in the ass. But that shouldn't stop anyone from jumping especially if they are in a toxic environment. Its not easy to get offers due to 90 days NP unless you are super goated.

For folks who want to get that confidence ( Especially when working in toxic environments one loses their self worth):

First, identify the role one wants to jump into and be honest absolutely brutally honest with yourself to know where you stand. How good are you with your skills? Rate yourself.

Now for main stream technologies go to Chat GPT or Gemini or any LLM and ask them to interview oneself. Be honest and give the answers. Then ask it to rate you. You can even prompt difficulty levels.

After that review and see where you lack. Whether you need to upskill or not.

If LLM is not your cup of tea then you can reach out on LinkedIN to experienced professionals and ask them to spare some time for you to conduct short crisp interviews. It takes alot of effort but you do build solid network as well. You will face rejections, Ghosting, seen zoning, and some even throw ego around. But there are folks who do enjoy helping and giving back to the developer community.

Post this if you are one of those folks who want the safety net still then Push a recruiter to get you in for a tech round. Then analyse how you did. Keep a phone beside and record your interview. You can see how you did later.

Special case: If after this you are still adamant that you want absolute safety net before you put your paper and need an offer before leaving my good friend your only option is to upskill and be super goated in the tech that companies are ready to wait 90 days for you. Its not impossible but still you gotta take risks especially if you are below 35.

Now that you have build your self confidence, and you believe in yourself put down your paper.

The first 30 to 45 days you can expect calls from WITCHA companies especially Accenture and Infy. They would be your best bet for bagging an offer in the early stages. They will try lowballing sometimes so be cautious.

If you get an offer congrats. Dont stop keep applying and garnering interview exp.

Now even if you dont get an offer dont panick. Human mind tends to make us doubt ourselves and always remember to keep cool. Know your worth. Rejections too will happen its normal. Just learn and adapt. Keep applying. Attend interviews and learn.

Now second half of your NP you get more calls from Contractors, Medium, and small companies. Even product based companies. Here just drive in and give your 100%. You would bag a couple.

Then decide and pick. Congratulations on the successful bagging.

30 days into NP TCS will reach out with retention but honestly from my exp something I learned the hard way when we decide to leave a place its best to go ahead with it. There would be a reason we have decided to leave. But its my opinion from my exp and witnessing colleagues.

Always believe in yourself. Keep upskilling and be super selfish. EoD its your life.
