Keeping old plastic takeout containers despite a 55 Lacs TC
I recently realized I still hoard black plastic boxes from food delivery, which I’m planning on throwing away. YOE - 4.5, Degree - B.Tech (CS) from an IIT.
My current yearly TC - 55 (base 30, RSU 25 yearly). And as you can see the pay is pretty decent.
I got a good appraisal this Thursday (base bumped by 4, bonus - 2), but I still wash and keep those cheap plastic boxes. I have been hearing really bad things about microplastics and to be fair my kitchen cabinet is a complete mess.
Overall it’s throwing a bunch of red flags and my peace of mind might be screwed along with my mental health and financial stability (might start watering down the handwash next). Do let me know if I’m taking the right decision here by dumping them all.

Just to tell the salary nobody asked 🤣

Reusing plastic is good. Even if you can afford it why do you want to put more plastic in landfills.
Maybe you can keep like 5 to 10 and throw the rest.
But you don't need to spend more money just because you have😂 it's ok to live frugally even if you are rich

Great point about the landfills. I think keeping just a few good ones and recycling the rest is a solid middle ground to fix my messy cabinet.

Middle class habit.😁

"single" use plastic is called that for a reason. They're not meant to be reused

Hello sir could you please refer me. I have 2+ years of working experience as a Software Developer.

I also keep the plastic bowls and wash them. They are absolutely helpful to me. Easy to wash. I cut fruits and keep in them. And if you keep the lid, easy to take. About the microplastic thing, i feel that's a concern but not that big because we are eventually consuming that some or other way.
