Got a call from one acquaintance looking for opportunities outside Flipkart informing me that downsizing discussions are going on amid hiring freeze which is ongoing since last 1 year.
Does anyone have more info on this?
Last year I remember in an interview flipkart promised they wouldn't conduct layoffs.

Isn't this a norm for big tech? I've heard every year these big techs cut off 5-10% of the work force based on performance
Performance based cuts wouldn't be a mass layoff. Only few underperformers would get fired. This just seems like a pathetic excuse to conduct mass layoff and call it performance based.
If someone from leadership/management says there will be no/ no further layoffs, they are lying to you and don't have backbone to say uncomfortable truth. Don't join such companies.
