996 in tech, didn't know this was a thing. What are your views?

In the name of providing cheap services, Chinese tech companies have been exploring their employees. This is a form of modern slavery, and if the top companies have such steep expectations, you can only imagine how hard it would be for the average tech employee. Happy such a concept is not widespread here in India. I would rather earn less and have time to do other things in life. Wdyt?
