90 days notice period!

Can someone please explain to me why most of the companies including TCS have a 90 day notice period even when they all look for immediate joiners? I mean a month is fine but 90 days is too much. I am currently looking for which after working here for around 5 years but seeing getting rejections because of the 90 day notice period. Not even getting a chance to appear for an interview most of the time.

The 90-day notice period is a strategic move to ensure smooth handovers and project continuity. It’s a pain for job seekers, but it’s about protecting business interests. Adapt or find a workaround.

Agree. But why do we look for immediate joiners when we hire?

because people don't join as they have multiple offers

its strategic move from the company, the resources should not be easily getting new jobs, if notice period is 30 or 45 days new company will hire people very quickly and it will be issue for current company, but if it is 90 days the current company will loose the resources very rarely, on other hand while joining if notice period is 90 days candidate will get multiple offers while serving notice period and as notice period reduce,,, hence it is concluded all the policy are as per company requirements

Its based on project and BU. One of my friend served 40 days notice period in TCS. He has asked for early release and he has got it

Can't we simply buy out notice period by throwing money?

Is the 60 days notice period too much?

Hi Folks I recently got an offer and the notice period over there is 60 days. In my past companies it was 30 days everywhere. Just wanted to know your opinion.
