Trending @Infosys; 70hrs a week, then pay on an hourly basis! What are your thoughts on this?

Akshat Shrivastava, a social media influencer, highlighted that IT freshers' salaries in India haven't kept up with inflation, rising from 2.45 lakhs in 2012 to ₹ 3.55 lakhs in 2022, way lesser as compared to Western pay structures!

To address issues he proposed solutions like

  1. Pay-per-hour policies
  2. Fair college fees
  3. Discouraging unpaid internships

What say?

The only thing required is to fire the shitload management who is sitting on the top of the table with absolutely no knowledge and eating out all the fruits of labor borne by the Junior and mid level employees. Address this and most of the problems will be solved.
And yes, I agree with point 2 and 3 as well.

Most contractors who work broad work on hourly basis and most of our billing is also on hourly basis in time and money projects. Main reason we are overworking. So infy in many cases is not making extra money. It’s due to spineless DMs and sales folks who cannot stand up to their employees and set expectations with clients that folks won’t be working beyond what is being billed for. The other issue is a set of entitlement for US based clients. They want to perfect work life balance by working 9-5 without caring the offshore folks also have families. Why not work 7am to 3pm atleast on 2/3 days a week to share the load. These are simple things which DM/Sales folks should push for in client meetings. But never happens we bend our way backwards to please our clients as there other competitors who will take our place. It’s a collective slavery
