When ever there is a slowdown, indian companies used this opportunity to increase work on their employees.
I have heard from my elder cousins that in the 90s infy/wipro used to have flexi timings. They were not asked to maintain any minimum number of hours at the office in the 2000 recession, they changed it and made people maintain minimum of 8 hrs in office
In 2008 recession, they made it to 9 hrs. Meaning the lunch/breaks that was part of the 8 hrs was moved out and made to 9 hrs.
I knew companies that kept track of that till Covid.
This 70hrs is nothing but to make Saturday a working day . I expect them to introduce a "half a day " working Saturday soon.
