💪 7 Months, 10 Lakh Saved — My Journey of Taking Risks and Building Confidence

Seven months ago, I made one of the boldest decisions of my career — I resigned from my job without having another offer in hand. It wasn’t easy. But before taking that step, my wife and I decided to build a 6-month emergency fund to stay financially secure no matter what happened.

Once we achieved that goal, I finally put down my papers. While my wife continued working, I started preparing for interviews. The initial phase was full of rejections — but I kept learning, improving, and staying patient. Slowly, things started changing. By the time my last working day arrived, I had multiple offers in hand. Eventually, I joined HCL with a good hike.

After joining, I received my full and final settlement from my previous company, and with my first salary at HCL, I made a conscious decision — to save before spending. I transferred whatever amount wasn’t needed for daily expenses straight into our savings account.

And one fine day, when I checked the balance… we had saved ₹10 lakh in our joint account. 🙌

That moment gave me an incredible sense of confidence and motivation. It reminded me that discipline, planning, and patience truly pay off. I’ve realized that cutting unnecessary expenses, avoiding impulsive buys, and focusing on long-term goals can transform your financial life.

Now, our next dream is to buy our own house in the next 2–3 years — and I’m more confident than ever that we’ll make it happen.

Sometimes, taking a risk is scary — but when it’s backed by preparation and persistence, it can change your life. 🌱

What was the joint balance on that account before you poured your final settlement from prev company and HCL savings into that account? Also how much amount from that 10L is contributed by your partner?

Before transferring my full and final settlement and first salary from HCL, I had ₹7.5 lakh in my account. However, I didn’t transfer the entire amount — only the portion I won’t be using this month.

Honestly, we had no idea how much my wife was adding and how much I was adding — it was simply a shared goal for both of us.

Seriously, you needed so much preparation to crack a job interview at HCL. I wonder why?

Sometimes luck plays major role I've seen people who are not skilled enough but they got into product based from service based and some people who are skilled enough still struggling to crack the technical rounds

This hit deep. It’s rare to see someone talk about risk-taking with such honesty and planning behind it. Most people either glorify quitting or avoid the topic altogether but you showed what responsible courage looks like. Saving before stepping out, staying patient through rejections, and still believing in the process… that’s real discipline. Congratulations on the 10L milestone and the confidence that came with it, you’ve earned both. Wishing you and your wife all the best for the next goal, the house. This post is going to inspire a lot of people to take smarter risks, not just bolder ones. 🙌

Happy for you. Great achievement.

But I will suggest you to invest in Mutual funds. Saving alone won't build wealth, investing will.
