Always aim for more money, though I don't think it's less if you are a self taught designer with normal college. You can definitely switch and get more.

For my initial 1.5 years, I was making something similar to what you are.

UX designer this side with 3 yoe.

  1. Are you counting internships in this 1 year of experience.

  2. What kind of company have you worked in this year? Agency or product or early stage startup

  3. Are you a self taught designer or have a design degree

  4. What's the package you are seeing around with 1 yoe? Have you dig down why they have those package, maybe internship at top product companies, design degree from best colleges, tier 1 college backgrounds? Other than this, have you tried comparing your core skills with them? Visuals, presentation, thinking? If not, would encourage you to connect with them and understand.

  5. What city are you in? If it's not WFH job.

Also, you will get an idea how much companies are willing to pay when you pitch your ctc to 10 companies and go through the process.
