In this big ocean of job market, there are different types of skills in demand and depends ultimately on how is the demand and supply, how you negotiate and a lot of other factors.
For example there were two employees who passed out with similar marks from same stream from same institute, same year, joined in same team, same company, but each have difference of over 50% in salary. This disparity happens. And that less compensated guy complained HR asking how his colleague got more salary than him. No help he got. So job market is not socialism, its like capitalism, who negotiates his skills/abilities, who fares well on interviews and discussion, how he presents all matter and makes a difference.
It's your life why you want others to decide if you are doing great in life or not. Nowadays people want others to decide if they are doing good in their personal or professional life.
Certainly it's not the case. It's sort of a peer review which helps as a fuel to start searching for other opportunities. Think of it as a "Market Research" directly through people working in the same industry.
If you think it's not a good CTC for you then try hard. You will always get people earning more than you or less than you. So what fuel do you want.
