30 LPA Startup (No WLB) vs 23 LPA Amazon FTC – What’s better?
I’m currently working at a small, lesser-known startup that pays me 30 LPA base. The job is stable for now, but there’s no work-life balance I end up working late nights and even Saturdays (unofficially expected).
Now I also have an SDE-1 FTC offer from Amazon at 23 LPA base. I’m from a tier-3 college, so the Amazon brand feels valuable for my career, but it’s a steep pay cut compared to what I’m getting now.
Should I stay with higher pay + no WLB, or take Amazon for brand + experience, even if it’s FTC Please Help here.
Amazon's wlb is not great as well, esp for sde tho it depends on the team finally. Late night meetings are very common and almost a daily thing. Weekend work is not required but also not discouraged. Work load sometimes gets a lot and weekend work becomes a need. I suggest you go for sde 2 if you have 3ish yoe. Better and justified pay
Currently 1.5 YOE of experience was recently laid of from a startup and found it difficult to got the interview scheduled even though i belive skill wise my resume is good so seems its a college and old startup name issue. thats why inclined towards amazon for brand value. Also there is no WLB in current company also so that will not be a factor. Please help me here make a decision.
So amazon cannot give more that what you are earning currently? Then no use of joining for the sake of brand.
I come from tier 3 college thats why i am worried about brand value also current startup is not big or famous and no wlb. But to be honest wlb is not a big issue for me now 1.5 YOE.
Tell them you won't accept anything less than a 10% hike. And you should not too.
And Amazon culture is infamous.
Told the HR told they cant increase it due to business constraints. I also asked if instead of FTC is there a way i can get FTE , But seems that is also not possible.
