12 hours a day!?
I recently joined a product-based company after previously working in a service-based one. In my earlier role, working hours were typically from 10 AM to 6 or 7 PM. However, in this new company, the workday starts around 9 AM and often extends until 9 PM. Occasionally, there are even calls scheduled at 10 PM. It seems like people are accustomed to this schedule, and my manager expects me to be available during these extended hours as well. Work-related messages also come in over the weekends—this seems to be part of the company culture.
I’m feeling overwhelmed and exhausted. I'm wondering if this is standard in product companies and something I’ll eventually get used to, or if it’s a sign that I should consider leaving. Please share your thoughts.

Probably you are delivering ahead of schedule. Always delay. Decline a few meetings. Create a crisis where none exist. Suddenly tell your manager that a particular thing will not work. Pretend to panic. Tell him you have to drop everything and focus on this. "Solve it". And pretend you are stressed out in "solving" this.
These kind of over active managers love to play god. They love to think they are offering free time to their "chela" who has helped them avert a crisis.
You will hear comments talk to your manager, speak to her.. all such nonsense. You can try them. But then realise only what I said works.

Manager is a kind of micro managing.Keeps asking for updates every 2 hours. How to handle this?

Micro managers are paranoid people. You can scare the shit out of him. They micro manage because they don't want surprises.
Long term solution is always to quit. You can't love a mad dog .

I work for for a product based start up. Officially it is 10 - 7. But i stay till 8. No calls or nothing after 8. Same for weekends as well

So do you work around 10 hours?
