1 cr has become common price for 2 bhk in metro cities

I am just relating with our parent's era how they could afford to get house and do so much with limited income at that time in 90s. But with our gen I keep seeing these exorbitant prices. Do you think and plan on making investment to buy, I know many folks have very good income here and it might seem not so tough but generally speaking how shd one plan to get these things into place for house, education, etc etc with such rising prices.

Islye Mumbai ke roles to dekhta bhi nhi, how do companies ensure pay parity in Mumbai, i don't have much idea but would like to understand if companies compensate that to tackle high rents

The prices have inflated because of the new found millionaires (startup founders) who would pay ₹100s of crores for flats but feel ticklish when employees ask for even 10% hike. Even with an in hand salary of 4+ lakhs, when you have family responsibilities, you may not be able to afford one.

If I got a 2BHK in 1 cr in Mumbai I would grab it and run. Just saw a decent 2BHK in a good location in sobo, asking 3.75 cr. Golf course view 3rd floor in a 3 floor building.
Family and responsibilitied lead me to explore such pricing, mein toh 1 room kitchen studio apartment mein reh sakta hu. One TV, one PS5, lounger chair, single foldable bed, bas khatam.

I think it’s best to avoid buying apartment in metro cities. Most of these cities will face major water problems and water logging in sometime(unless the local authority does something which I highly doubt).

Best would be to wait till you are in your late 40s and early 50s, or near your FIRE age and then decide to invest.

Real estate prices are highly inflated and will stay likewise, owing to NRIs and business owners(sometimes politicians through shell corps.) buying majority of the apartments(pls correct me if I am wrong here).

Do you know what you are earning for ?

What are you earning for ? Is it concrete or something vague that one day you will need this amount or something? Is it more than you or your family needs?

Or are you just a sheep like me ?

Is it possible for those doing well to still acknowledge how our generation is screwed economically?

Saw a similar post somewhere from an European and I think it’s pretty valid for India.

For context, I am in my early 30s, a home owner, living in tier-2 city with a pretty high salary. Recently got married and my wife also works as an...

Who are buying these 2crore apartments?

Like the title says, why is owning a home so difficult.

A person with 1 crore in the bank is a middle class if you go by the current housing sector trends. In most big cities, buying a 2-3 bhk apartment means shelling out around 1.5-2 ...
